We’ve seen that God has a daily plan for us in His Word. But our enemy, the devil, also has a plan for us as well. However, God’s playbook is so great that we also know what the plans of our enemy are. Pastor John Samuel Barnett introduces us to those plans.

The first step Satan takes is to try and get us to doubt that God has spoken through His Word and what He says is true.

Prayer is both an offensive and defensive weapon for the Christian. By it, we are able to ask the God we have a relationship with to take control and we are able to ask for protection from whatever we might be facing.

Let us seek to devote ourself to prayer and recognize what a great opportunity we have in seeking the all powerful God who created the whole universe and desires to have an intimate relationship with us.

Mark 12:27 – “He is not the God of the dead, but of the living…” God has created a universe where cause and effect are in use. For each cause there is an effect and each cause is a previous effect going back to God being the First Cause. When we trust God, trust His Word, and engage in prayer real life, real altering effects affect us. When we trust God, He promises to work in our lives so that we may be made more perfect – it is what happens when we focus on our Father above.

As we delve into the Lord’s Prayer, we can come to understand one of the helps it generates is something akin to a doctor’s report. A list or guide that allows us to know when we are on the right path to stay on that path. And when we falter, we can recognize it and correct it. The Lord’s Prayer is a tool to develop a checklist for our spiritual growth.

A very short answer to a very important question as we discussed prayer this week.

If prayer is so important to the Christian walk, why do so few see it as necessary?

When the term “spiritual warfare” is said, one might think on that great novel by C.S. Lewis “The Screwtape Letters”. In it, the senior demon, Screwtape, is writing a series of letters to his nephew demon, Wormwood. Reading that book almost convinces one that Lewis tapped into the veil of that realm. But the actions and workings of the world of spiritual warfare speak more about God and His Will and His Power than it does about anything. After all, says A.W. Pink, “The devil is God’s devil”.

Today, Pastor John Samuel Barnett defines the term “spiritual warfare” and ties it into the need for a strong prayer life.

How we deal with bitterness is how we deal with all sins – through prayer and repentance. For the Christian, prayer is one of the biggest offensive weapons we have to combat every evil.

Jesus modeled that reliance on prayer. When the disciples asked Him how they should use that weapon He taught using what has come to be referred to as “the Lord’s Prayer”.

Pastor John Samuel Barnett begins his teaching on the importance of the Lord’s Prayer and the discussion that absolutely every word and subject covered is vital to the health of the believer’s spiritual life.
