If you’ve ever driven in the north during winter you know about how slippery and dangerous it can be. We also know that when we hit an invisible “black ice” patch sometimes we can’t help but spin. In those times we have to turn into the skid to orientate ourselves to get back on the path we are suppose to head.

Pastor John Barnett teaches that, as Christians, we sometimes find ourselves skidding out of control. In order to be set back onto the path that God wants us to take, we have to orientate ourselves in order to regain control and continue onward.

This week we looked at the fact that the armor of God aids us in our sanctification process by making us conform more to the image of Christ. One of the topics in contention in many churches today is to what extent do we have to trust in Jesus to start that process. Can we become Christians by just believing certain truth claims and “trying Jesus” or do we have to believe and declare Him “Lord”? Pastor John Barnett covers the topic of Lordship salvation.

Pastor Barnett teaches that a Christian’s new identity is that of Christ’s. We are call to live out the “new you”. By putting on the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness we can use the tools that God gives us to look more like Christ.

Probably one of the best historical fiction movies ever made when someone hears the word “freedom” is probably Mel Gibson’s Braveheart. An inspiring movie where we see a normal man rise up and fight against oppression for him and his people. Unfortunately, most of the story is just “based on a true story”.

Christians understand and can testify that we gain freedom in Christ. We are freed ultimately from our sins and then several secondary factors that Pastor John Barnett will discuss. And unlike Braveheart, the source of freedom isn’t “based on a true story”. It is the story.

Last week we saw that we never have to feel dirty or guilty or hopeless ever again. Pastor John Barnett sums up why we should take up our helmet of salvation on a daily basis.

This week’s Q&A was selected because of how interesting a topic it is. Pastor John Samuel Barnett covers the history behind the one language everyone spoke at the beginning of creation and why God then confused it. The historical proofs are worth the watch alone.
