John Samuel Barnett has been teaching the Word of God for over 30 years. John has studied at Michigan State University, Bob Jones University (B.S., B.A., M.A., M. Div.), The Master’s Seminary (faculty and Th. M. work), Dallas Theological Seminary (Dr. of Biblical Ministry) and with Francis Schaeffer at L’Abri Fellowship.
John has served congregations in the East, and the West, before coming to the precious saints at Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2008. He has served on the Faculty of the Master’s College & Seminary. He was an Associate Pastor to Dr. John MacArthur at Grace Community Church for five years overseeing the Shepherding Ministries. During graduate school, John served as the Assistant Dean of Men at Bob Jones University for five years.
Called to the ministry as a young man–his passion remains prayer and the ministry of God’s Word. As a global Christian, and having ministered the Word in 60+ nations around the world, John’s ministry is deeply touched by outreach and evangelism. Since 1978, in conjunction with Land of the Book Tours John has led dozens of study tours, retreats, travels, and pilgrimages with over 1,500 participants, and taught on site in 21 countries and on five continents. This is for my spiritual (human) mentor Dr. John Barnett. First off, thanks again so much for being an excellent teacher! The visuals are great and many others lack that skill. Here is the question sir: I will be paraphrasing here & there (sorry)…Question: From the 1) Annointed Cherub (perfect in every way until iniquity was found within him); to 2) Lucifer? (separate from being an annointed cherub??); to 3) Satan (who was a murderer at the time of birth)…how could 3 be referring to the same being if the earlier statement via 1) states that perfect until inquitity was found…does this not detail that there was A) a contrast – from existing to actually being born…and B) to being perfect until notating a change – isn’t this a discrepancy from being born that way – i.e. – upon immediate creation/existence vs. becoming such? I’d reference the Scripture but you already know it haha…many thanks!

Pastor John, I listen to your videos daily. You have taught me so much. I’ve been a Respiratory Therapist for 35 years. I’ve seen many people pass away. Hospice is a service that is used regularly. I feel like what is done many times is legalized euthanasia. Morphine is given and sometimes it seems like it ends a person’s life a lot sooner than if nature runs it’s course. I was wondering if you could comment on this or direct me to one of your videos that addresses this matter. I realize you’re very busy, but if you could find the time I would greatly appreciate it. Dear John, Thank you for your teachings. I have recently discovered you on YouTube. I have struggled with Calvinism for years, but your teaching that removing limited atonement and viewing the issue of predestination from God’s teaching verses man’s understanding. Tonight I’m watching your teaching: What Will We Do In Heaven. The issue of eternal reward and our ranking is predicated on our works on earth makes me fearful of being known as a possible underachiever or a unprofitable servant for time and eternity. My walk with the Lord has required Him to carry me far more than I’ve walked. I believe that we will all have crowns to place at the feet of Jesus. Just as I can’t see God arbitrarily choosing some fo life and others for death I have a hard time believing that we will be eternally ranked thus exposing the status of our works on earth. The thief on the cross only had time to ask Jesus to save him and no time to disobey him later on, perhaps his reward will be greater? I quite frankly am apprehensive about life after death. I experienced way to much negative and sinful behavior toward me by Christians and even pastors to want to experience God’s justice. I need mercy and grace with my past put behind me and forgotten by God never to be used for judgement and evaluation for eternity! I’m not perfect, but I’ve been made perfect in the eyes of God!

Hi John,
Each morning after my time in the Word and communion with the LORD, I listen to one of your sermons. I listened to “5 ways believers prepare for the end of the world” this morning.
When I repented in tears from of a life of alcoholism and despair in December 2004, I committed to loving and obeying my all sufficient Savior with all ny heart, soul and strength. I began a Bible study group before work at the Hospital where I worked and saw God move mightily healing, saving, rescuing many.
I was given a choice to stop talking about Jesus, retire or be fired. I could not stop talking about Jesus, I could not stop saying what the Bible says, I could not stop the flow of living water coming out of my heart for the lost and broken.
I never planned for retirement, but the LORD did.
My wife, my family and I have lacked nothing.
Jesus Christ is my supply.
I can no longer stand up at management meetings and talk about Jesus’ power to save, but I send a “truth” each morning provided by the Holy Spirit…the Bible says….to 50+ family and friends each day. I just deliver the mail.
I’m grateful the Holy Spirit directed me to you on the web, you have been a help to me.

Tozer’s book was showing me things I missed before. It also caused my mind to start popping with thoughts and questions. Then I stumbled on John Barnett YouTube video’s and I was amazed how John’s video’s were verifying the very questions and thoughts I was having from the other three sources. I thanked God for He was showing me a principle which John also uses in his teaching where he weighs all of Gods scripture onto a single verse to ensure its not taken out of content and to get a true understanding of what God is saying. I wonder if Gods Word is written that way so as to make one search. Mr. Tozer taught me to read the Word slowly and savor it like a good meal. Happy travels on your path to the Kingdom.
I love your studies on youtube. You are a wonderful teacher. Especially for those like me who have no church family. I used to belong to a church who can recite more of their prophets words than Gods. I quit God for 38 years because of that experience. In 2009 I started hearing God’s calling. By 2011 I was passionate for the love of truth. I haven’t found a church and may never but i have found a few wonderful speakers, you standing out because of your teaching and explaining of God’s word. I have been watching pastor Barnett’s teachings on YouTube for many years. I am very particular about Bible teachers. If I hear any questionable doctrine or imprecise interpretation, I will stop listening.
I am surprised that I’ve watched Dr. Barnett so long without hearing anything concerning.
I get so much out of his teaching. And his knowledge of ancient history really adds to my understanding of Old and New Testament times.

I am from South Africa and I must say after I discover John on Youtube I often listen to him.
I really enjoy the teachings from Revelation and always listen to world news with a spiritual ear.
For me everything starts coming together at this moment: The 7 seals of Revelation in progress (1 Covid; 2 Russian war; 3 World food crises) as well as on the doorstep of the war of Gog and Magog and then moving so much closer to the tribulation period.

I watch your teaching videos on YouTube often. I just began watching YouTube regularly in the past couple of years. Mostly searching for Christian teachers that I can trust and who teach and believe in the pre-tribulation rapture. Fortunately there is a big difference of opinion whether the Rapture even exists between Christian teachers. You are the most believable and best teacher I could find on the internet. Your vast knowledge of scripture and history, your easy and honest and literal approach to scripture and the material presented along with your personality laced with humorous comments just makes you very credible. You are easy to understand and believe. I would love to meet you and Bonnie someday. Unfortunately I can’t manage to travel along with you on your tours of the Holy Land but I still have hope that I will be able to meet and greet you and Bonnie in heaven. Thank you for helping me understand so much of scripture of which I’ve never thought about and the thousands that watch you like myself.

I am just listening to one of your sermons titled: Q&A -19 What is the most repeated sign of the end. You talked a lot about being deceived by the devil and the antichrist. I find it interesting. Any one who keeps Sunday as the Sabbath is being deceived by Satan. God’s Sabbath, the 4th commandment, is the 7th day of the week. Constantine and the pope’s Sabbath is Sunday. God said “If you love me keep my commandments”. He also said, “If you say you love Me and do not keep My commandments you’re a liar”. When Jesus returns he would say, “Here are they that keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus”. God help us.

My dearest love and my best friend are struggling with becoming born again Christians as we are trying to draw closer to our heavenly Father and understand God’s word. We have been reading the Bible and pray multiple times daily for God holy spirit to fortify us spiritually, physically and mentally. I believe that through my prayers I disvovered you on You Tube and can honestly say that we have both learned so much from watching/listening to your lessons. I rarely turn on my television to watch anything else anymore after discovering you and learning so much from your video lessons. In our quest for truth and knowledge to learn more about God and his word we are both studying weekly with representatives from a local Jehovah Witness congregation. This was a starting point for both of us and we have been studying weekly for almost a year. We each study separately with our own gender representative. The witnesses that we both study with are devoted JWs 35 + yrs, since they were baptized in their faith. To summarize we are both starving for spiritual food and are leary of becoming lost in their religious beliefs and are aware that Jesus warned that many will come in his name and to be very cautious of false teachings and prophets. Dr. Barnett when we speak of you to them they won’t even allow us to share anything about you. They pre-judge and say that your another apostate. I don’t even know you but find that I am defensive about you and your teachings as your lessons have been so incredibly helpful and are so enjoyable to watch. I feel that you are blessed by the holy spirit flowing through you when you speak and teach. I wanted to know specifically about the JWs do you find to be absolutely false with their teachings? We simply want so much to study/learn the truth about our heavenly Father/our Saviour and to also be filled with the holy spirit. We desperately seek the truth and feel like we are running out of time. Your teachings feel like we are on the holy highway to truth so I humbly write this email in the hopes that you will respond and share with us what you understand about the JWs and their teachings. I want to be born again so bad, it’s all I think about!!!! But I am lacking the resources to get to Church and I know that’s so important!!!!! I try not to put to much emphasis on anyone! I like his teachings ,I ha e been listening to him for 5yrs now, he pulls these golden nuggets out of biblical history, pretty sound doctrine he dictates, but I don’t like it when he gives his personal opinions about supernatural experiences Ppl have in Christ, I get that many sound unrealistic, but not mine, I know what the Lord has given me and my beautiful blessings ,I can’t speak for anyone else,only myself, but God is merciful and kind, a mighty God who can do all things in whom he chooses, John and his wife maybe feel left out? Maybe they lack faith in a God that can reach down to Ppl and give them dreams and visions, and supernatural events that DO occurr, I know I had those! All I’m trying to convey to John and his wife, is that just because it hasn’t happened to them don’t rule it out! If you believe that our creator is powerful and mighty,then believe he can do all things as he chooses! Don’t limit him! That’s a sin in its self!!
I wanted to make out a handout to give people about the Bible. You commented on Job 38:31 about Orion’s belt and Pleiades. You said out of the 8000 stars in the sky that can be seen with the naked eye only these 2 are held with gravity. When I did research on this I found there were more than two. Only a few more. I’d like to be able to say two. What parameters did you use so that you only had two? Thanks for your time and effort.

I am filled with new understanding every time I listen to your wonderful teaching. Funny, how we live with certain teachings not realizing that it is wrong until we hear the truth. I identified with the truth you taught and wondered why I’d never realized (never considered) ‘IF’ it was wrong!
It turned out that it was a commonly taught ideology, that probably most pastors never considered to be wrong (at the time).
Knowing this, now I am more driven to find out for myself. Because of your extensive education I trust your history, your theology, your understanding because I KNOW ITS FROM GOD!

We don’t get this kind of thourough detailed teaching much in Australia.
We had a couple but they moved to the USA where it is more solid.
I particularly like Pastor Barnett’s clear and concise style which always leaves you with plenty to think about or the penny drops on something that wasn’t as clear.
In the modern world this type of truthful teaching is getting harder to find and access.

I just have a question. Will we when we are all in HEAVEN know or remember all of those people that we knew back here in this life? I believe that GOD will blot out all those people from our memories we knew back here that did not go to HEAVEN because if we knew about them we would be sad they never made it to HEAVEN. And sadness won’t be in HEAVEN.

John is an amazing Bible teacher. Getting closer to Jesus and denying ourselves is what life is really all about . I learn something new every time is listen to John. So much depth and powerful teaching . We’re all going to have to confess Jesus as Lord, and stand before Him. I thank the Lord for John’s teaching . I’m guilty of being a useless believer allowing my flesh to govern me . So I really need to read and hear John’s teaching daily. Keep myself in the love of God .
