One of the rules of electricity is that it takes the path of least resistance. That’s how most people operate too. However, when God changes the heart of the sinner to the heart of the sinner saved by grace, we take a different path. The path IS hard because it is us against moving against what the rest of the world is doing. To the believer, we are to no longer to live a life guided by fear but by faith. That is the message Pastor John Samuel Barnett brings us today.

There was an older Bible adventures video game where one of the levels had you playing as David facing off against Goliath. The goal was to time the sling at the right time to send the rock at Goliath and win. The game, however, must have been Calvinistic in theology, because whatever location you released the stone it would find its intended target. The message stating that God is all-powerful and was able to direct the stone at Goliath would always appear.

Today, Pastor John Samuel Barnett gives us the great news that God’s Word always works and we can always rely on Him. Why? Because God is all-powerful and is able to direct His stones.

This week we looked at trusting in God who provides us both perfect peace and faith. We are to trust in Him and not of the things of this world.

One of those ways, is by trusting that God will provide and when He does to provide for His Church. However, are Christians suppose to tithe (give 10%) or can we give to other places? Pastor John Samuel Barnett gives us the answer in this week’s Q&A.

If we think of the type of warfare that occurred in the Greek and Roman times we might think that the shield one might carry is nice to have but it’s only a secondary piece of a soldier’s make up. The Greeks didn’t think so. Greek women would bestow shields to their sons heading off to war and would charge them with the words, “Come back with your shield – or upon it.” Greek war strategy existed in a team formation. The first line protected the group with their shields from frontal attacks like swords, spears, and arrows. The second line protected the group with their shields from ranged weapons like arrows, rocks, and boiling oil.

Each soldier had to maintain the strength to not only lift his shield but be able to hold it above their heads. A loss in strength from one man would put the whole group at risks. The Romans, likewise, knew the value of the shield and were able to subdue and control the know world.

Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, knew the importance the shield was for a Christian. Christians are constantly under attack and are in need of lifting their shield of faith up. Pastor John Samuel Barnett gives God’s call to come back on His shield of faith.

Great. So have God’s peace and boom it’s just that easy…

Ok, that’s a bit facetious. Pastor John Samuel Barnett, today, provides reasons why believers may lack that peace within our lives.

On June 5, 1989, the whole world watched as a plain-clothed man holding two shopping bags halted a column of four tanks during the Tiananmen Square Protest. It is an amazing picture that captured the sentimentality of the situation. The people asking for reform and the government who wants to consolidate their power. In the end, the government with their tanks ended up killing close to 1,000 of their own people. Yet, the man who stood and stopped a group of tanks did not seem to waver in an almost apolitical and humanitarian stance.

Christians are to exhibit this type of peaceful resolve. Pastor John Samuel Barnett instructs us from God’s Word that Jesus keeps His disciples in a peace where we are able to stand up against the real power of this world.

As we continue to look at the different parts of the armor of God we constantly see that the source and continuance of the characteristics are not sourced within the believer. They come into the believer’s life. They resonate within the believer. They are used by the believer. However, all the pieces draw from the character and Person of the Triune God. Pastor John Samuel Barnett shows what the God of peace is able to do in a life of a believer that is open to be controlled by his Lord and Savior.

This week we looked at the peace that is given to believers as a result of salvation. One aspect of that peace is having assurance in knowing where we go when we die. Pastor John Samuel Barnett answers the question of where do we immediately go after we die? Do we have to wait around or are we instantly in the presence of God?

Today, Pastor John Samuel Barnett shows that one of the pieces of the armor of God are the shoes of peace. When are called to put on and stand against the powers and principalities of the devil and the evil world. We need the peace of God is order to have the bravery to stand and be firmly planted.

When we turn on the faucet in our house we understand that the faucet doesn’t magically produce the water. We know that it pulls the water from a source. For believers, we don’t produce peace just by willing it, we “pull” it from the source of Jesus Christ. Pastor John Samuel Barnett shows just how instrumental relying on our Source of peace is needed in a Christ’s life.
