Psalm 51. Pastor John Samuel Barnett gives a great walkthrough of the psalm about David and his Spirit inspired truth about his sin and all our sin.

Psalm 18. Just as with turning to God first when we face trials and tribulation; do you turn to God first after being delivered? It’s easy when it’s not pulling out from a green light only to see a car run the red light that would have smashed you. What about after troubles at work or with family. What about times after health scares or financial ones?

Do you have the same joy fro deliverance that David does to immediately proclaim God as Lord? Do you respond in truth what James says in 1:2-4, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing”?

Let us greet God with joy and thanksgiving in all that takes place.

Psalm 57. Probably one of David’s scariest times of his life. Having been running from King Saul and his men who wanted to kill David, he fled to a cave – backed into a literal rock and a hard place.

In the psalm, David does not pull any punches about his situation. He states his circumstances and his feeling accurately. Yet, through and through David has faith that the Lord will save him. Do you have this hope as well? When faced with trials do you abide under the shadow of God’s wing? Or do you have faith in yourself first and only turn to God as a last ditch effort? Let our hearts always be steadfast on the Lord.

Psalm 132. In this Psalm, David prays from the future Sanctuary Temple for God. David was unable to build it due to him having taken lives in battle before but he knew his son, Solomon would build it. Even though David could not be the primary provider of God’s dwelling place among the chosen people, he could be a primary source of prayer for it to be carried out.

Prayer should be a primary arrow in our quiver. We enter into a relationship with God and He with us. Even the Lord places a high view on prayer and calls for it often in His Word. We may not be the prime movers that get a job accomplished, but we can certainly have an affect by the power of God’s Spirit in prayer. How are you at prayer?

Psalm 3. Pastor John Samuel Barnett teaches on David’s psalm of strife and fear with Absalom, his attacking son, and other enemies. But David is not without hope and the Lord provides him with one of the biggest signs of faith during troubled times – trusting the Lord to provide in the simple act of sleep. Does your life outwardly reflect faith in the God who says that He will provide for you?

Psalm 13. It’s interesting to see David’s plee to YHWH in this Psalm and how much it matches Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. We can learn from both men of The Book that the strongest and most humble thing we can do when face troubles is seeking God’s help on our knees first. It is a joyous mystery that the Creator of the universe is mindful of us. Let us rejoice and be glad!

We are taking a quick break from the Psalm series for a message from Pastor John Samuel Barnett from last Sunday. Pastor Barnett speaks about the divine perspective of God on politics and elections. God is completely sovereign.

Psalm 13. Fear and trouble was prevalent through the life of David. Whether it was an angry king of Israel, or an enemy army, or even a murderous son, David had reasons to have trepidation.

In the Psalm, David cries out to God his troubles. And in it, he proclaims his only hope. Where does your hope lie?
